Did you make a New Year’s Resolution?

January is coming to an end in just a few short days. Have you made progress in achieving them?

NYR

I am a happy camper when the “resolutioner’s” leave the gym. January gym = pure craziness! However, it simply amazes me how these people come for a month and disappear. Why do they not stick with the plan year round?

NYR 3

Recently I’ve learned that I do better when I set some short-term goals, leading to the overall long-term goal. In 2013 my longer term goals are to become Leaner, Stronger, Faster and finding peace and balance of the Mind, Body and Soul.

NYR 4

I plan to set a monthly goal to achieve these longer term goals. I did not set a goal in January mainly because of vacation. I am working on a plan for February. I recently started taking a Body Flow class each week. This class helps me with my balance, stretching (which I never do) and finding peace of the Mind, Body and Soul.

BODYFLOW™ is the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance. Like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new BODYFLOW™ class is released every three months with new music and choreography.

If you have the opportunity to take Body Flow I highly recommend it.

I am hoping my IT band and hip flexors will loosen up from all the stretching the class provides. My hope is that Body Flow will help my running goals = faster and stronger!I plan to run a 1/2 Marathon this summer and a few 5Ks with better times and no IT band issues.

What are your 2013 goals and how will you achieve them?

Mango Cafe’ located Payo Obispo #725. Colonia Meteorológico across from the Guadalupe Church, 77400 Isla Mujeres.

The restaurant is a small little place only about 8 tables. They did have enough room to accommodate our table of 6. The servers are very friendly and are very appreciative of their guests.

The menu is fabulous and it was a very hard decision to be made.

IMG_6047

I had the Nuestro Mudialmente Famoso Pan Frances Al Coco $85 pesos. It’s the French toast with almonds and coconut. DELICIOUS!

IMG_6041

The Chef and my Mini me shared the Chile Poblano Relleno $95 pesos.

This is a stuffed poblano pepper with eggs, cheese bacon and everything but the kitchen sink. It’s double dipped and fried. Truly an amazing meal. So good that our family members went back for a third time for breakfast.

The restrooms are by far the cleanest in Isla.

Polo Mango

Polo takes pride in his restrooms and his restaurant. A very friendly guy and his English is very good. I asked him where he learned English. He lived in the US for seven years before moving to Isla to open the Mango Café.

Isla Mujeres Mexico

IMG_6551

My family and I recently returned from a fabulous trip to Isla Mujeres Mexico. If you are looking for an island of paradise this is the place for you.

Isla is located 8 miles north-east of Cancun. You will need to fly to Cancun and take a ferry over to Isla. The island is only five miles long and one mile wide. Once you arrive on the island rent a golf cart for your local transportation about $5,200 pesos for 7 days.

Today I am going to share the bed and breakfast we stayed at on the island.

Armin the concierge for Magi was awesome. He arranged our golf carts and all of our transportation to and from Cancun to the Ferry. He and his wife had fresh salsa, guacamole, cervesa’s and many other items for us when we arrived at Magi.

When arriving in Isla be sure to tell the taxi driver that you want to go to the east side and the house is across from the Bachilleres.

Magi is very beautiful and safe. When we arrived Armin gave us instructions on each of our suites. Each has their own safe for locking up your money and valuables.

The main level of the house has a huge master suite (The Terraza) with a fabulous bathroom. Shower, tub separate toilet and vanity. The living room hosts a nice salt-water pool; the kitchen has a huge industrial gas stove and refrigerator. There are fans in each room and air conditioning in each suite and the kitchen. The temperatures were perfect for us we only used the ac at night when sleeping. There is also a separate bathroom off the kitchen for convenience when all are gathered in the living room/kitchen areas.

The second level has two separate suites. We stayed in the Maharani. Our suite has a beautiful king size bed and single bed above. The other suit is called the loft. It has a king size bed and the loft has a day bed. Magi will sleep 8 adults comfortably.

The third level is a patio with chairs and hammocks for pure relaxation. I enjoyed a fabulous massage here.

Magi supplies beach towels and a couple of beach chairs. It’s on the east side of the island, which is very rocky and has high tides we didn’t swim on the east beach. Looked for seashells and iguanas.

Rates are very affordable. I would recommend 3 couples splitting the expense and enjoy this home in paradise.

Many more fun Isla Mujeres to come!
